Visiting a favorite book of mine, 12: The Elements of Great Managing by Rodd Wagner and James Harter. The book walks through 12 major survey results that show a highly engaged workforce. We know that an engaged workforce is significantly more effective. The book really should have come with a poster that just listed the 12 survey results because they largely speak for themselves. For your viewing pleasure:

1. I know what is expected of me.

2. I have the tools I need to do the job right.

3. I can do what I am best at every day.

4. I get recognized or praised every week.

5. My boss cares about me.

6. Someone encourages my development.

7. My opinion counts.

8. The mission makes me feel important.

9. My coworkers are committed to quality.

10. I have a best friend at work.

11. Twice a year, someone talks to me about my progress.

12. Every year, I have an opportunity to learn and grow.

Sounds like a pretty good job, huh?
